Fortress Embassy Niamey Has a Weird Facade

My good friends in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) just cut the ribbon on yet another new Fortress Embassy, this one in Niamey, which, I can tell you, really, really, needed one. See the details here: Dedicates the New U.S. Embassy in Niamey, Niger.

I have one question about the design. That rust-colored thing that covers all of the exterior windows and extends a bit above the roof, what is that? Probably a sun screen, I'm guessing, which makes sense for that climate.

But doesn't it look exactly like the new southern border fence?

The first section of completed new border fence

Not that I mind an artistic reference to the border fence, you understand. However, I'm surprised that feature passed through so many architectural hands, from OBO itself to its construction contractor and their design firm, without someone objecting.

TSB: I never heard of Naiamey (but neither did auto-spell.) But this Miami tragedy raises a lot of questions. Assuming that there were 40 yr. old structural problems due to the shifting nature of the sand and sandstone it was built on. Repairs brought on by the 40 yr inspection which started this week might have been too high to be affordable.
Since the building was only 30% occupied, the owner might have been tempted to "pull it" with explosives just for the insurance. If that avenue
is completely ignored it will be suspicious because so many other buildings could be similarly affected. gwb The Niamey building could use a little artistic touch. I'll read about that one later.

TSB: I think the "defection" of China's "CIA Chief" with all the "secrets" and sprinkled in drama was just disinformation because when you think about it what did we really get that we don't already have? 1. He is only defecting to his own side. 2. About the virus, he only said that "It was an accident." That is a subtle way of saying "we didn't mean to do it. The truth is more like they could never done it this fast and effectively with out the full support and backing of the US government, healthcare system and research. 3.The 3rd phase of this is the mass forced vaccinations which are starting to realize are perhaps the biggest scandal since the Chinese Revolution. (BTW) The next step for the west coast is that cities like San Francisco are going to require vaccination for all employees after they are approved by the FDA for regular use. Don't forget Fauci was pushing for an "AIDS" VACCINE for everyone because you could catch it from anyone. gwb

GWB: About that inscrutable Oriental defector, I automatically tune out all news stories with unnamed sources. If there really is a big-deal defector from China, we'll learn about it someday but not today or tomorrow.

On Dr. Fauci, I remember his AIDs scaremongering back in the '80s. When credibility is thrown away like that, you can't get it back.

TSB: I have to do things backwards. That's how solving mysteries works. That's why it's so hard to find people to argue religion with. For instance, yesterday I figured out that Jesus is coming back in 2128 exactly 7 years after the tribulation which will be late summer or early fall this year. That comes from a formula god passed down in the prophesies of Daniel and the book of Numbers. It takes about 45 min to explain it in a U tube video which I just came across yesterday: End Times - Daniel UNSEALED! (2021 Great Tribulation)

GWB: You should read about the Millerite Great Disappointment back in 1844. That was another prediction of the Advent, and it spawned a number of follow-on movements, one of which became the Branch Dividians at Waco. Quite a history.

TSB: Looks like I was a little early on that Florida tragedy! An engineering consultant who examined the Miami-area residential building that partially collapsed early Thursday had warned in 2018 of "major structural damage" that informed plans for a repair project that were scheduled to begin soon. gwb

PS I'm way behind on this end times stuff. Give me about a month to catch up because all these people that go to church every Sunday are sleepwalking thru it. Anyone who can't see signs of it with nuclear war threats every week and General Milley's reading requirements should know that all it would take is a terse letter from President Xi for him to fly to a Texas base and surrender the country without even telling Joe. lol gwb

TSB: Among Americans aged 15–24, a total of 587 died of COVID in 2020, according to the CDC, representing about 0.16%, or about 1 in 642, of COVID deaths.
If you are young, you have essentially no chance of dying of COVID. The low youth mortality impact from COVID was known by April 2020.
Yet many universities now require these low-risk young people to inject the experimental vaccine or be banished from campus.
Did you already catch the WuFlu and have antibodies?
It's going to be 112 here today so my daughter got a text message yesterday from her local water department: NO OUTSIDE WATERING! So the want you to burn up the vegetables you have been growing for 3 months in 2 days? The water comes from a well that has never had a problem. Enjoy Sunday! gwb

TSB said...

GWB: Schools both K-12 and college are impervious to data on COVID mortality. The people who run them will always truckle to the outrage mob and join in moral panics. Nature of the beast.

One of my schoolteacher son's colleagues dares to ask out loud why their school goes so far overboard on COVID when they do nothing special for flu season every year, and flu kills more kids than COVID. He can get away with speaking heresy because he's Korean, whereas my Whiteboy son would risk his job by speaking against the consensus.

Is it a coincidence that the 2020 election still isn't settled but yesterday the question of "should we go to war with Iran" was settled in the usual way after voices like Tulsi and Mike Gravel were silenced in favor of the permanent MIIC, total censorship and medical tyrants. gwb

TSB: I was following the Olympic Trials 15,000 Meter run yesterday afternoon on NBC 4 hrs after it was actually run. That was the only event I saw. Temp was 108 F. They said they would be back as soon as thing cooled off..maybe between 6 and 7:30. They never came back or explained of course. Seems a little discourteous to their fans, but you expect that from NBC. So today:

This after Heptathlon competitor Talyah Brooks passed out during a warm up as surface temperatures on the track reportedly reached 150 degrees. According to one report: My apologies to NBC...Seems all the athletes rushed to their cars and hotel rooms to beat the heat and avoid a trip to the hospital. Today it is only going to be 111 here so I won't bother looking for a track meet. gwb

GWB: 23andMe? I prefer the ancient practice of Phrenology when it comes to pseudoscience. Cesare Lombroso, a medical doctor and the Father of Positivist Criminology himself, swore by it for spotting atavistic born criminals. Works every time. Hey, they can't hide the shape of their skull, can they?

On those anti-war Democrats like Gravel, they are between scarce and non-existent right now.

TSB: Hey !! We finally tracked down the patent on the WuFlu!! Had to go to the UK Patent office for it. gwb
That patent, dated for approval Nov. 20, 2018, clearly states that the “assignee” of “coronavirus” is “THE PIRBRIGHT INSTITUTE (Woking, Pirbright, Great Britain), funded by Wellcome Trust, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, EU.”

This patent was filed on Jan. 23, 2017, which actually means that the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) was drummed up almost three years prior to when the news started reporting on its spread in Wuhan, and later throughout the rest of the world. gwb No wonder natural news.com has been banned from polite society!

TSB said...

GWB: Reuters has reported on those allegations about Gates and the Pirbright Institute - https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-pirbright-patent-covid-19-idUSKCN2521X4 :

“Pirbright does not currently work with human coronaviruses ... We have not yet developed an IBV vaccine, but research is ongoing.”

Patent number 10130701, referenced in the claim on social media, filed on July 23, 2015 and granted to Pirbright on November 20, 2018, is effectively a weakened version of one kind of coronavirus that could serve for the development of a future animal vaccine.

TSB: Juan Brown AAL pilot has the family camper packed and ready to go in the NE California sierras at the first threat of a wildfire. The plan is to leave everything behind and not get caught in an evacuation. There are already 3 major fires between him and,the Oregon border. He makes it clear that firefighting ability is totally used up and the season has just begun. Lots of fuel, water and electricity outages ahead.

TSB: Norway to pay compensation for AstraZeneca side effects as patients who suffered from Pfizer & Moderna watch and wait: https://www.rt.com/news/528174-norway-astrazeneca-vaccine-compensations/
Instead of being run by their campaign contributors, Norway seems to have some actual scientists involved in evaluating medications and compensation for injured parties. gwb And today all the troops are coming home from Kabul Will there be a parade? gwb

TSB said...

GWB: I fully agree with that AAL pilot. "Be Prepared" is my motto, and that would apply with extra force during 'fire season' (summer) in his neck of the woods.

That's a negative on any parade for troops returning from Kabul. The last time we did that was after Desert Storm, and the last time before that was WWII. If I were to draw a lesson from that history it would be to make all your wars quick and decisive. Even WWII was over in less than a quarter of the time we spent in Afghanistan.

TSB: Best comment on article about withdrawal of US Troops from Afghanistan since the only people who read this type of story seem to be Afghan vets:

They will hoist the black flag over Kabul on….wait for it ...
Sept. 11, 2021

PS: I listened to about an hour of Putin's annual answering all questions last nite: He had about 100 people handling the calls and the staff said this year was more than twice as big as last year. They have 3 vaccines in Russia and are going thru a big spike in cases after taking the DeSantis approach. Food inflation up 7% year over year. In Russia, your Dr. decides whether you need the vaccine, but most don't know the side effects. gwb

TSB That story about the 11 guy "Moor' group goes a little deeper. Turns out they were smuggling two Hezbollah operatives (the only two non-africans ... in the photos ...probably from Florida to Maine to get them out of the country and were carrying enough gas cans to not have to stop for gas. FM predicted the other day that now they will demolish the building and destroy all the evidence. The 2 guys were turned over to the Feds which might raise some questions. The Moor Militia of course weren't doing anything wrong; just following that 1789? treaty we have with Morocco. sarc You probably know moor about that. gwb

TSB said...

GWB: I've been reading into the beliefs of those 'Moorish' guys. That's a fascinating story of self-delusion. Also a bit of cultural appropriation, since the whole sovereign citizen thing started with white boys.

The Hezbollah part, though, is a stretch too far. Anyway, the Emir of Morocco, or whoever is in charge over there, wouldn't do favors for Iran, or so I'm informed by the Ambassador from Wakonda.

TSB and James: Happy 4th to you and Tulsi Gabbard points out the Declaration of Independence was really a call for Interdependence of all Freedom loving nations
meaning the US was going to need a lot of help. gwb

TSB said...

GWB: I fear Tulsi has gone soft-minded with that interdependence stuff. 'No one is free unless everyone is free' is a ridiculous but dangerous sentiment. First because it's obviously untrue (does your freedom depend on North Koreans, or Iranians, or Chinese, etc., being free, and when did we all agree on what "free" means?), and second because it's a call for intervention in other countries.

We have a long and tragic tradition of intervening, from Woodrow Wilson ("I will teach Mexicans to elect good men") to Geo. Bush (worldwide war on terrorists and "evil-doers"). Tulsi's political attractiveness is based on her call to STOP doing that.

I told her back then she should sell her rental house and her son's former house and what to do with the money to protect it when Biden crashes the banks and the stock market. She got $200,000 more than she expected total in just 4 days. I still haven't washed my car. Maybe I should? gwb

Does that mean 10 others can bail out? The leader broadcast the whole encounter on social media gwb Note no other media coverage. gwb

Lt. Byrd was investigated for leaving his department-issued Glock-22
Maybe the big commission will get this straightened out. Anyone want this to be the last time you ever get appointed to anything?

TSB said...

GWB: LT. Byrd does bear a resemblance to the shooter, but we don't know for sure because Congress makes itself (and by extension the Capitol Police) exempt from FOIA.

The lawsuit by survivors might turn something up, or possibly a Member of Congress will leak the identity. The news media has no interest in the matter, so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon.

what is the rust colored thing? from Miller Hull (https://millerhull.com/project/u-s-embassy-niamey-niger/), the architecture firm, "Cues are taken from endemic regional forms and materials like sand, concrete, and red metal oxide primer; a series of screens and canopies evocative of traditionally used acacia limbs shield buildings from the intense West African sun"

TSB said...

Anonymous,

Thank you very much indeed for that info and link. I certainly agree that red metal oxide primer is something seen a lot in places like Niamey, but I'd never thought of it as an architectural feature before.

Very good, OBO and Miller Hull!
