You might think the USSS would use low profile gear, like wireless ear pieces and radios that look lke ipods, but evidently not. It's still big radios clipped to the belt, and coiled wires running from their ears down their suit sleeves to a hand mic.
I expect it's a matter of style, rather than a lack of technology. Radio ear pieces are part of the image, almost as important as the sunglasses.
