Most Head Shakingly Bad Thing of the Week

Police in Germany rescue man being chased by baby squirrel - The Guardian

Police in Karlsruhe said the unnamed man called them in desperation after he was unable to shake off the small rodent. Officers sent a patrol car out to investigate and arrived to find the chase still in full flow. But the drama ended suddenly when the squirrel, apparently exhausted by its exertions, lay down abruptly and fell asleep.

Ok TSB, here's my research: Jailhouse Lawyers Speak chose August 21 – September 9 for its historical significance, but this choice also shows developing strategy. In 1971 George Jackson was assassinated by San Quentin guards on August 21st, and prisoners across the country responded with protests and defiance that culminated in the infamous September 9th take-over of Attica. This year, prison rebels will use those same dates for a sustained and equally transformational protest. Prisoners from 17 states have vowed to participate. Replacing 19 days of prisoner labor can cost millions, not to mention the cost of breaking occupations and repairing damaged facilities. This action can bankrupt not only prison systems, but entire state budgets. Exposing retaliation and drawing attention to horrendous conditions and routines also corrodes the prisons’ public legitimacy. By the end of this protest period, any impacted government is likely to grant substantive concessions to prisoner demands. gwb

TSB: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-08-16/death-nation-drug-overdose-deaths-jump-record-72000-last-year That's a 6.7 % increase over 2016. The blather you hear from the politicians and C-Span experts sounds like they just figured out there is a problem. The only reason for even talking about it is to placate the upper middle class because now lots of the deaths are from young kids going to parties and trying the stuff once. Boom, your dead!

TSB: For the 1st time the gambling odds favor the Dems taking the House in November. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-08-23/first-time-electronic-markets-show-majority-odds-democrats-win-house-gop-holds
It seemed so weird to me that the most exciting election in my lifetime left most people unwilling to talk about it because they really didn't like either candidate. It now looks like Putin bamboozled Hillary's "Machine" into paying for a "Dossier" on Trump and also selling the Russkies a big chunk of our Uranium. (all legal under our corrupt political system) So far "Putin's Revenge for the sanctions seems to have trapped all the US players in a web of lies and deceit. Next round will be the House Dems vs the Senate Republicans! gwb

TSB: https://www.constanceforohio.org/ Constance Goodell-Newton is running for governor of Ohio.(Green Party) She is very experienced lawyer and state worker in the juvenile court system. She has been shutout of the Ohio media and has been denied a Wikipedia page by the editors of Wikipedia. This has also happened to a candidate for US Representative in Ohio who finished 2nd in his primary race, but just barely. All the mail in votes from out of state are still being counted. I didn't realize that Wikipedia is censoring political candidates as badly as twitter, youtube and facebook. (Constance wants to stop fracking which is a no-no in Ohio. Looks like no more free and fair elections in the USA. gwb

GWB: I'll have to watch for that prison strike. But I don't see how they have a winning hand. On George Jackson, I don't think it's an assassination when a prisoner takes a guard hostage at gunpoint, it's just a lot of violence in a very small place - three guards and two white prisoners were shot to death in Jackson's cell and three other guards were shot and stabbed but survived - and inherently way more messy than any targeted killing.

GWB: On those poop patrol gov't jobs, it makes sense that they would be highly paid. Think about it if you were a gov't contractor: you'd have almost no overhead, the entire city is your potential market, and you'd have no competition. that's a great business plan.

GWB: On the problems of the Green Party in Ohio, all the big social media platforms are so overdue for regulation as public utilities that I can't understand why Trump hasn't already acted. Regulation in the public interest as defined by the First Amendment - i.e., no censorship of opinion, deplatforming, etc. - plus a strict standard of liability for personal information. That's where all parties ought to have a mutual interest.

TSB: I think this WH insider op-ed is serious business! I watched Pompeo's reaction when asked about it which was an artful slam on the NYT. I don't think anyone associated with the administration did it. I think the CIA did it
as blowback for Trump removing security clearances. Their job is using coordinated attacks to take down foreign leaders, but this time it's the President they are out to take down. Today Trump reversed himself on Syria saying we will continue our military and diplomatic efforts there. They won't stop at this. gwb
