TSB: Today ambassadors from UK,Denmark, Poland,Romania,France,Italy,Morocco, Phillipines,Turkey,Iran,Uruguay,Sweden met with Venezuelan President Maduro to recognize him as the leader of Venezuela. Mexico,India and Ecuador have also recognized him. An attack on a police station in Caracas was put down by his military. Our sanctions don't seem to be working so good. gwb
I haven't followed the Venezuela business that closely, but I saw that 'Tropical Trump' - Jair Bolsonaro - thinks Maduro is illegitimate, and his judgement is good enough for me.
TSB: Elliott Abrams named to lead the restoration of democracy and freedom in Venezuela...some are saying that's a bad idea. Abrams is a pretty strange appointment. Someone who probably couldn't be Senate-confirmed for anything due to his convictions for lying to Congress back in the 80's, and THE leading Never-Trumper among the Republican foreign policy establishment. It makes no kind of outside-the-beltway sense.
