Armed Robbery Victim Defends Himself With AR (a Rock)

Call it an extreme case of rock-paper-scissors. Man’s death in Landover was result of self-defense, police say:
A man who was killed last month in Landover, Maryland, died after an act of self-defense, police said Friday.

A Prince George’s County police investigation revealed that around 9 p.m. on April 22, Tauron Williamson, 23, of Oxon Hill, and Tyron Wheeler, 22, of Northeast D.C., were trying to rob two other men on 75th Avenue in Landover.

Police said Wheeler had a gun during the robbery and shot one of the victims, who was listed in critical condition.

The second robbery victim fought back and struck Williamson in the head with a rock, police said. Williamson died from his injuries on April 25.

It was initially believed that Williamson had also been shot, but a later autopsy determined that his injury was solely the result of being struck in the head with the rock, police said.

Police have determined that the second robbery victim was acting in self-defense when he struck Williamson.

Wheeler is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and related charges, and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

The instrumentality here is not all that unusual. Over 1,000 people are killed by blunt objects or 'personal weapons' (hands and feet) every year. But not many of those cases consist of victims fighting back against an attacker armed with a gun, I don't suppose.

TSB: Jimmie Carter announced today he is recovering well from surgery for his broken hip. He fell while preparing to go on a turkey hunt. He says his only regret is that the season is ending and he still hasn't got his limit.

Maybe Rosalin and Jimmy should throw their hat in the ring and join the 23 Ds running for President. It would be fun. Of course ol "Shotgun Joe" might challenge him to a Turkey Shoot. Jimmy wouldn't fall for that I hope. gwb

TSB: May was a big month for news. 1.We learned that Huwaie became #1 in 5G the old fashioned way. They stole it thru the ineptitude of the USG going back at least to 9/11. (Just like that Johnny Cash song about stealing parts from the assembly line.) 2. Theresa May,the "Queen of Delay"is gone in June, probably along with Tony Blair. 3.Baltimore was the latest victim of a stolen NSA tool that is so well encrypted that the government will probably never figure out who used it. 4.Ebola in Africa is so out of control that it is impossible to locate the contacts of most of the victims. The test for it no longer works, meaning someone can test negative for it and get sick 6months later in another location and die in 3 days to a week. We have 20 some new military locations in Africa, including Entebbe which should help spread it all over the world. Latest US medic on the USS Arlington died May 20th. (An immediate travel ban from these countries would be a good idea. Plus a lot more $$ to fight the epidemic and provide food and supplies.) and 5.The complete takedown of anti-Trump coup leaders is unfolding right before Brian Williams' eyes! gwb

TSB:Combat veteran and close Presidential advisor Lindsey Graham is calling for a counterattack after the failure of "random guy named Juan in Venezuela:

May was a big news month, alright. And I loved that old Johnny Cash song - "You might say I went right up to the factory and PICKED it up, it's cheaper that way." That's really a transgressive song in a class warfare-ish way, when you think about it.

I must say I never thought of Lindsey Graham as a combat veteran, but I guess a reserve JAG lawyer doing a weekend drill in Iraq gets a participation trophy, or something like that.

TSB: https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2019/may/29/congo-ebola-response-must-be-elevated-to-maximum-level-un-told
1. But insecurity has continued to undermine the response, he added, repeatedly preventing work to identify and vaccinate people at risk of Ebola. There have been 174 attacks on health facilities so far this year, a threefold increase compared with the period from August to December 2018.
2. By the time someone is brought to a health care facility it is too late.Stage 3 illness is almost always fatal.
3.In the previous epidemic the US military sent massive levels of troops and supplies and cordoned of the areas and contacts. That is no longer possible in DRC because it is a war zone.
4.US media is supressing this story because of the election. Responding to it would tank the airline industry, healthcare stocks and tourism.

I see some Congo ebola news, like a Reuters story about East Congo villagers looting a clinic and killing a health worker. And CDC has a Level Two health alert for the country. But, it does seem to be taking a back seat to everything else going on in the news. My guess is we've DONE ebola news, a couple years ago, so the news media is bored by this latest occurrence.

The story needs a news hook to get coverage. Like, a U.S. victim who travels back home and exposes others, for instance.
