Harry Dunn Case: You Can't Get Elvis Without Colonel Parker

That's right, the latest twist in this sad story made me think of the disasterously bad manager of Elvis Presley, the one who dictated every step Presley made and pretty nearly destroyed his career. Parker was summed-up thusly: "The Colonel was often described as a cross between P.T. Barnum and W.C. Fields; in the King's court, he was combination court jester, Svengali and Robin Hood."

Wow, that sure does resemble someone I've blogged about quite a bit. He even has a physical resemblance to Parker.

I'm prompted to blog about him yet again because this week he and the family of the victim have whipped themselves up into a state of outrage that looks unprecedented. The cause of it all was the refusal of the U.S. Embassy in London to include the family's spokesman/adviser/lawyer in a personal meeting the family had requested with the Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission. Compounding this alleged offense, the embassy directed its emails on the matter to the mother of the victim, the requestor of the meeting, and pointedly not to her spokesman.

The Embassy responded today:

Here's a sample of the family spokesman's unbalanced response to this perceived slight:

"Misery upon misery ... monster ... poisonous" etc. It's enough to make me wonder why they sought a personal meeting in the first place. Such aversion to the DCM seems to have escalated all at once.

Here's the mother citing what she believes is her legal right to have her spokesman present and managing every aspect of her engagement with the Embassy:

Note she says "the Embassy is based in the UK ... I know my rights and I'm sticking to them." That refers to the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime (the Victims' Code), which is the statutory code that sets out the minimum level of service that victims should receive from the UK criminal justice system. It does not, of course, apply to the U.S. Embassy in London, or impose any obligation on the USG to address the family through their chosen representative.

That's the problem when you're managed by a Colonel Parkeresque pitchman whom you let dictate everything you do and say. He just isn't reliable. Only last week he was pitching a virtual trial of the American driver if she would do it from the UK Embassy in Washington because - as everyone who watches a lot of television knows - an embassy is the sovereign soil of its government. It isn't really, since the 'embassy as sovereign soil' thing is a myth. But, if only last week he believed that myth, then why doesn't he now believe that the U.S. Embassy in London is the sovereign soil of its government and therefore not bound by the UK Victims Code?

Sovereign or not, the U.S. Embassy in London may be on borrowed time, since Colonel Parker's Twitter feed is full of calls for nothing less than a break in U.S.-UK relations. Oh, you embassy swells will rue the day you trifled with him.

TSB: I was going to share this headline, but I won't: Chinese Property Tycoon Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison After Calling President Xi A "Clown"...The outspoken developer was once known as "China's Donald Trump"...probably a funny story but I thought this was more interesting.
Mark Espert admitted that hundreds of millions of Cov-19 relief funds were diverted to the Pentagon for things like fighter jet parts, contracts for Raytheon, McDonnel Douglas, Boeing, missile programs. The Pentagon redirected most of its $1 billion in pandemic funding to defense contractors who exchanged the money for jet engine parts, body armor, dress uniforms and other military needs, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday. I'm sure Espert being a former Raytheon board member is puzzled by all this, but that law was already written and ready to pass last January so it can't be his fault. gwb

TSB: !*~ALERT~*!APOLLO MISSIONS NOW *COMPLETELY* DEBUNKED(!)ALSO LOST WWII SUBMARINE FOUND IN ANTARCTICA! The Chinese just put a lander on the moon. It's radiation monitors indicate that radiation levels there are exactly those that have been reported by satellite data for the past 10 years, 2 to 4 times greater than would be survivable by humans for very long. No one but two German scientists are reporting on this which is interesting because the US has been maintaining that we can return men to the moon whenever we want and have current "private/public" plans to do so soon. Fl Maquis: https://youtu.be/zA61809uufQ
He also credits MrMB333 with discovering a WWII era sub in Antarctica. Maquis further identifies it as British sub P222 which mysteriously disappeared off Gibraltar in 1942 probably trying to find why the Germans were sending subs to the south pole. gwb If you can't trust NASA, who can you trust? gwb

TSB: Academic Appropriation? Joe Biden Claims He Attended 'Historically Black College'... (Jonathan Turley) A recording from a S.Carolina primary appearance
has Biden saying this. (typical Biden false claim)
There is also good anecdotal evidence the Trump was "instructed" to pick the current scotus nominee by members of the Justice Dept. because she could be confirmed quicker, easier and with less chance for drama. Her record show that she would never support overturning Citizens United and she has supported Corporate interests over worker's rights almost 100% of the time.
I'm starting to think that both candidates are very compromised to the point neither can concede to the election results which will lead to civil war led by the Democrats. gwb

GWB: I'm losing the thread of this new report. Are German scientists working with the Chinese to cover up how they smuggled Hitler out of his Berlin bunker and into a U-Boat for an escape to the moon via Anartica?

NASA was filled with German scientists back in the Apollo Project era, so of course they were in it up to their necks.

Now, those German scientists are faking a deadly moon radiation hazard as an excuse to dig Hitler an underground moon bunker with walls 80cm thick where he'll never be caught?

I can't believe they thought they'd get away with that.

Why not a HBCU? Biden has the most inventive biographical details of any candidate to ever run for President. That was held against him back in 1989, and he had to drop out in disgrace, but today the more fabulist the better, it seems.

TSB: lol, NYT reports Trump deducted $79 million for haircuts since 2017! As a taxpayer I'm wondering what my share of that is? Just guessing there might be 160 million taxpayers divided into $80 million that's a lot of money! Of course his hair stylist probably works for the Trump organization so he doesn't have to pay taxes on that. But there is more! According to Cenk of TYT: Trump’s Taxes Revealed: He’s Broke! https://youtu.be/OC-23kldIp8
He breaks down all the reported numbers and according to those even if Trump sold all of his money losing businesses he would still owe hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars and not have a penny to his name. No wonder Don Jr is begging me to send nickels, dimes and quarters to help dad out. Trump has only been paying $750.00 a year in taxes going back many years and Hunter picked up $1.2 billion from the Chinese government to be to advise them on investments so you sorta have to feel sorry for these guys. gwb

TSB said...

GWB: That would be a lot of money for haircuts. I believe it was only $70,000 for haircuts deducted as expenses for his TV show, The Apprentice, over however many years that ran.

Anyone who claims to understand Trumps' tax returns had better be a highly qualified accountant and have spent at least one year going over his books. Instant analysis by journalists and internet commentators is worth what you paid for it.

TSB: So nine months after America deterred Iran by assassinating Qassem Suleimani, America may close its massive embassy in Baghdad because of threats from Iran https://washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/09/25/just-ahead-election-pompeo-is-pressuring-iraqs-leader-raising-tensions-with-iran/
One unnamed Iraqi official said of this latest controversy: "The Americans aren't just angry. They're really, really, really angry," according to AFP, while another noted, "The honeymoon is over."
This sounds kind of serious. gwb

TSB said...

GWB: Any host nation has an obligation to protect diplomatic premises, and against any kind of attack, not just ones sponsored by Iran.

I'd expect to see Iranian groups re-brand themselves as Iraqi as an immediate reaction to this threat of closing the embassy. Anyway, a closure of the embassy is not the same thing as breaking diplomatic relations, so not much may come of this.

Just trying to get medical records for an ER patient with a sprained ankle would be nearly impossible. They are going to have to go "old school" on a lot of things until they get those computers back on. gwb

TSB: I agree with this: The short version of the debate is that Biden did well if one ignored that almost every other statement he made was a lie or fantasy; Trump dominated him, almost too aggressively; and Chris Wallace may have been the worst and most obviously biased moderator since Candy Crowley. Most significantly, though, Biden and Trump each made a critical point. Biden’s was a tacit admission that, if he is elected president, he will preside over the end of the filibuster, allowing Democrats to pack the courts and add two new Democrat-majority states. Trump’s point was that he’s holding damning evidence about the Democrats’ coup attempt.
I was laughing the multiple times that Wallace tried to stop Trump from bringing up Hunter Biden's drug addiction, getting booted from the military and receiving millions from 3 different countries. Also, Kimmel and Colbert had almost identical prepared 11 minute critiques of Trump they called comedy. gwb

TSB: This seems like a really important story because at first it seemed like a clear video of cold blooded murder. FM pointed out to me that "private security" can do things that police can't in protecting private citizens or property.

TSB: The WHO flip flops again on shutdowns: This after initially saying they work. Same as for the constant u-turning around masks, and whether or not Sars2 is airborne, etc.

Beyond that, we've got great new data that Ivermectin really (really!) works. Especially and particularly in combination therapy with D3, Doxycycline, and Zinc. Go figure! /s

Also, believe it or not, but having young kids in the house work in a dose dependent manner to reduce your risk of getting Covid or ending up hospitalized with Covid. Weird, but fascinating data.
Combine all that and I remain very respectful of SARS2, but not fearful. https://youtu.be/bbGG79WGmu4 gwb

TSB: Two controlled and peer reviewed studies, one started 6 months and just released show that Ivermectin + Vitamin D-3 + Zinc + Doxycyline OR Azithromycin had a 100% cure rate
in HOSPITALIZED patients and also had an 83 % effectiveness when used as a preventative measure in people who were living with people who had known Cos 2.
So you now know that this very cheap alternative is also very effective in MEXICO and India. India's death rate per million is 7 times less than the US. TSB: "Facts Do Not Matter" To The Covidian Cult: Eight months later, here we are. The Head of the Health Emergencies Program at the WHO has basically confirmed an IFR of 0.14%, approximately the same as the seasonal flu.
And here are the latest survival rate estimates from the Center for Disease Control:
Age 0-19 … 99.997%
Age 20-49 … 99.98%
Age 50-69 … 99.5%
Age 70+ … 94.6% https://www.zerohedge.com/political/facts-do-not-matter-covidian-cult
BTW...That "security guard" in Colorado who shot the aggressive demonstrator was not licensed and there is thus far no evidence he was facing a deadly threat when he fired. He might be in legal trouble. gwb

TSB: It looks like a landslide! I watched The Rational National's weekly polls review today and Trump is leading in at least 2 states. One of them is Idaho where he is favored by 83% and the other is West Virginia. Ohio is very close. Florida is a couple points for Biden but Trump will probably pull that out. Texas is very close but my 18 yo nephew in law who is starting college this year with an academic scholarship is voting for the first time. When asked who he is voting for he said: "Not for Biden!" So I'm pretty sure Trump will win Texas. The rest of the important states are massively for Biden unless we can somehow stop women from voting. gwb
Poll Update: Biden Is Dominating https://youtu.be/ZRr2at5otXs

TSB said...

Oh, I don't think it's a landslide for either party. Polls are just efforts to influence public opinion, not report it. Other, more reliable, indicators such as new voter party registration by party show Trump ahead, and even the polls are tightening as we get to the last two weeks. The pollsters will be honest about only the last result they publish before the election, since that's the only one they'll be judged on later.

This year you also have big unknowns such as the Covid-driven dislocation of populations (how many voters have left blue cities such as NYC?). Plus, the depopulation of campuses means less student voting (student voting was typically in the 20 percent range before Obama's big campus effort, and will probably drop back to that this time), and many students will vote in their redder home states instead of bluer university states, diluting their influence.

And then, there's enthusiasm among Trump voters but virtually nome for or by Biden. Joe is barely fogging a mirror these days.

All in all, it will be great fun on election night.

I will go on record, it will be a Trump win probably a landslide.

Senn: If you look at the election as a reality TV show - which is a good way to interpret it - this is the point after the last commercial break where we get the heightened drama right before the big reveal. When Trump walked off the debate stage last Thursday he said to his staff "let's finish this," which sounds like he's all-in for attack ads and mega-rallies next week.

But short of an absolute landslide, we won't have a settled result until all the late ballot counting and legal challenges and 'don't concede under any circumstances' posturing runs its course, and maybe not until the Supreme Court rules on the Electoral College numbers.

TSB: After I heard Biden tell me to Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote yesterday I decided to vote "present" this time because I don't want to have to say I voted for either of these guys. It's great to see the student crowd getting involved though: The Elephant In The Room: Florida School Revokes Parking Privileges Of Student With Trump Display On Truck! And also, the nuns who were prominently displayed at Trump's rally. They had a great time and are definitely "Pro-Life and Pro-Cops. They got doxed for doing that.
Today Biden got a ringing endorsement from Vlad Putin saying saying "I don't see where Joe did anything wrong making business deals with Ukraine or a woman from Moscow, implying that he never got anything from Trump. Who took away freedom of speech from students and nuns? gwb

TSB: French TOTAL Lockdown tonight:? French schools will stay open but the stay-at-home measures for adults are as strict as in the spring, with written paperwork needed to go outside for shopping, medical care or one hour a day of exercise. Who provides the paperwork for your shopping or 1 hr of exercise?? In July France declared HCQ to be a deadly poison not to be used for cov=19 and UK ran a study using toxic high doses given too late in the course of the disease. (To date, no no documented evidence of cardiac harm from HCQ use and no legitimate studies have been allowed. Its been used for 70 yrs worldwide safely.) Insane! gwb

GWB: I respect the French a great deal for keeping their schools open, despite all their other panic and overreaction. Over here, we've seeing the ill effects of school shutdowns, from soaring illiteracy rates to teen suicides. Vive la France.

On that Bobulinsky thing, it's no scam. Actually, it's tons of collaborating documentation and first-hand testimony that confirms the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop. It's a big grenade rolled into the Biden campaign, which the news media has thrown itself on top of to save Joe.
