OBO Remakes Mexico
Or at least, our diplomatic premises there. See the current State Magazine for an article about how my good friends have done a clean sweep of our old and decrepit embassy and consulates there and replaced them with the new stuff.
I have to agree that era is finally over. Coincidentally, the old Billy Joel song "Living Here in Allentown" came on the radio yesterday and the lyrics struck me like a ton of bricks. "Our fathers fought the Second World War ... now we're looking for the Pennsylvania we never found." Even a dig at the union people "who crawled away." I'm amazed that Trump hasn't used that at rallies.
If not for that last post I'd have never connected the 1980s' Allentown song with the present rustbelt economy and loss of hope for blue collar Americans. Considering the many "deaths of despair" among them, the situation is far worse now than it was then.
