Most Head Shakingly Bad Thing of the Week

"D.C. Jail Inmate Joel Caston Wins ANC 7F07 Race" - Washington Informer

Joel Caston, an inmate at the D.C. Jail, made history Tuesday as the first from that correctional institution to be elected to a public office in the District ... Caston will serve as the advisory neighborhood commissioner (ANC) for single-member district 7F07 in Ward 7. In addition to the roughly 1,500 residents of the D.C. jail, the district includes the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter and residents of Park Kennedy, an apartment complex across the street from the jail ...Caston is believed to be the only incarcerated person to have been elected to a political office in the country at this time.

TSB: Good for Joel ! ...Former Canadian Embassy Worker Arrested In Haiti Assassination Worked For Shadowy Security Firm (in Miami) The security firm would not confirm or deny this. But this young man had a facebook page where he described his mission as "reforming Haiti" (in Creole) That FB page was immediately removed from FB.
So here is a guy connected to Canada, Haiti, a US "security company" and charged with assassinating a very dictatorial elected President of Haiti. He says he just thought they were going to kidnap, not murder. We have learned a lot in a week gwb

GWB: I'm sure the Haitians are just starting to scratch the surface of what went on. Colombians, Canadians, Haitian-Americans, and who knows what other parties might have been involved?

TSB: I watched with interest the MSM talking about how critical it was to get
Afghan translators to a safe place before they and their families were all slaughtered with US troops leaving by 9/11/21.
Of course they were "promised" that by the US but given the amount of hatred that exists between the US/Pakistan/Afghanistan who are now dealing with a new President and a new "Woke" military I doubt there will be any Afghans welcomed into the US. gwb

GWB: I'm a complete contrarian on the matter of visas for interpreters, I have to say. I'd like to know who exactly made that promise? Was it explicit, such as in their employment contracts? Or was it only implied? Did whoever made that promise know that the Congress has limited special interpreter visas to only 50 a year?

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/siv-iraqi-afghan-translators-interpreters.html

If whoever made or implied that promise turns out to have hugely over-promised, then how does that create an obligation on the part of U.S. citizens?

The special visa program for Iraqi interpreters was halted early this year due to massive fraud. That is not a good sign for the present Afghan crash visa program.

Vae victis. The humanitarian cost of failed wars is yet another reason why I oppose almost all wars of choice. My suggestion is that any Afghan who fears retaliation
- or just doesn't want to live under rule of the Taliban (like Westernized women) - ought to look to nations in their region for asylum, and I would vote for a modest resettlement fund for such cases.

The entire "Haitian thing" is strange.
Why was/were his eye(s) gouged out. For diabolically clever mercenaries they don't seem to be very smart, more like set up.
It reeks of an inside job.

Sennacherib: Unless there was some voodoo angle that required it, I don't know why they'd mutilate the body. Possibly that was just a side effect of his being shot in the head with a rifle round. Hydrostatic pressure?

Didn't think of the hydrostatic pressure thing ( should have). If it was a voodoo thing then the story really gets complicated.

One more. If it was a voodoo thing then I may have found the culprits!

Senn: They can be serious about that voodoo thing. When Baby Doc Duvalier was overthrown, the mob went straight to Papa Doc's tomb to open it and make sure he was still inside. Can't be too careful when it comes to malevolent sprits!

Lol yeah, like Santa Ana's leg. When he got back in power they gave it a state funeral with procession, when he fell they'd dig it up and drag it around before tossing in the trash pile.

Senn: That reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of King of the Hill, in which Hank's father, Cotton Hill, steals Santa Anna's leg from a museum and ransoms it back to Mexico in exchange for a driver's license. I

A French Captain lost his wooden hand in Mexico (the battle of Camerone, 1863) and that became another sacred lost limb, kept by the Foreign Legion and taken out every year on Legion Day.

People keep losing body parts down south of the border.
