Obama In History, Part I

President Zelig (center), with his colleagues Coolidge and Hoover

This is just sad. Some White House worker bees have been inserting Obama mentions into the biographical sketches of previous presidents (here) on the Whitehouse.gov website.

Obama's reach is so sweeping, evidently, that he is completing the work of his predecessors going all the way back to the 1920s. Kind of a presidential cleanup hitter, bringing in all the runs that those weaker batters couldn't. Forget Julius Caesar, it's Obama who doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus.

On the entry for every President going back to Coolidge, except for Ford, there is now a Did you know? addendum that asserts:
President [whichever] began the [insert some impressive-sounding program here]. Today, President Obama continues to [do that stuff] in his historic [insert some administration goal or objective here].

My favorite Twitter parody so far is this one:

This is a moving tribute to the first truly "transformationally evolved" President in our lifetime TSB. He's transformed healthcare, the economy, the military, immigration policy, race relations and the national debt. And history will show he did it all in 1 term! (sort of reminds me of when Mayor Dennis Kucinich bankrupted Cleveland!) gwb

TSB: This tiny minority of congress people pushing for something 70% of the people support might have a big effect on the presidential race. I would love to see those "silent weasels" have to take a vote on this! gwb

Proving that DHS Works! Federale has good piece on the political hacks running DHS but these arrests prove that 40 agencies, F-15's can coordinate to protect Fogg and bring these desperados to justice! Otherwise our President and the AG might well have been killed. gwb http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/19/nato-summit-terror-plot-obama-campaign-headquarters-rahm-emanuel-home_n_1529817.html

It looks like the French will lead the way out, since President Hollande says his troops will be gone by the end of the year.

I'd like to see it become an election year issue, but I don't think either the Ds or the Rs see any advantage in talking about Afghanistan.

TSB: Pepe describes the Nato Occupation of Chicago best! It's called "Strategic Dominance". gwb

Hey TSB: How about that Facebook IPO? At almost the same time the stock was trading for $70 in Germany, $42 on the NYSE and $21 on the Nasdaq! That is pretty sloppy if I do say so! Those German buyers are going to be a grumpy lot tomorrow morning! gwb

I hadn't noticed that about the IPO. So, it looks like there was lots of room for financial arbitrage - taking advantage of different prices in different markets. And I thought that kind of thing was a relic of the Industrial Age that was made obsolete by info entrepreneurs like Zuckerman!

bloomberg and cnbc never reported on the European trading which closed at 11:30 Eastern. The Nasdaq trading started then but was quickly overwhelmed by frozen servers..No one was able to get confirmation on buys or sells. NYSE trading went smoothly but it looked like most early buyers decided to sell and the underwriters had to buy tons of the stuff to keep the closing price at $38. (their obligation)

There is nothing cuter than watching Maria Bartiromo going from "Hype" to "Yype!" in an instant! gwb

Wowser TSB! Congress is going to investigate the military cover-up of this fake chinese parts scandal! Wasn't Duke Cunningham the last guy ever held accountable for a DOD scandal? Why don't they just refuse to testify because it's all secret? gwb http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-21/china-top-source-of-counterfeit-u-s-military-electronics.html
